The research section “Participatory Research in Archaeology. Legal issues and good practices” discusses the legal framework and constraints that participatory approaches in archaeology involve and how good practice in community projects could represent a turning point for the immediate future of archaeology (papers by: A. Olivier, G. Tully, A. Castillo Mena, B. Wilkins, G.P. Brogiolo-A.Chavarria, F. Pinna, S. Thomas, F. Benetti-C.P. Santacroce, K. Moeller, R. Karl, M. Rizner, L. Delgado Anés-J.M. Martin Civantos, A. Pyburn). The three papers of the Beyond the Theme section deal with landscape (papers by: E. Zanini, C. Citter, F. Sogliani-D.Roubis). L Band, in the Project section, offers us a good example of working with communities with the well-known English project CITiZAN. Finally, in the Retrospect section dedicated this time to Ireland, T. O’Keeffe draws the history of medieval archaeology in that country.
